Currently, there is a scam perpetrated under the name of HEAP.
blank
Specifically, people are being contacted by someone indicating that they are representing HEAP weith a new program, HEAP Connect, saying the program provides clients with a $100 voucher monthly for use at Walmart, Macy’s and/or Giant Eagle. The client is then asked to provide their HEAP account information and a small enrollment fee of $1.95, via debit card.
blank
One of our HEAP clients here in Stark County bit on the scam and provided their debit card number and their account was cleaned out this morning. The number to enroll is 1-866-233-1242. Apparently, every time you call the number the offer changes!
