Summer Crisis Program Begins

July 1st, 2010 marks the beginning of the Summer Crisis Program at Washington-Morgan Community Action. The program provides assistance to community members for cooling their homes. It allows seniors and those with a medical need to apply for up to $175 to purchase an air conditioner or to apply towards their electric bill, depending on their situation.
In order to qualify for the program, clients must be of 60 years of age or older or have a qualifying medical need certified by their physician. They do not need to be participating in the PIPP program or have a disconnection notice to receive assistance. However, all clients must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, which are as follows:



Add $7,480 for each additional family member above 8.
All appointments will be walk-ins on a first come, first served basis. Those interested in this program should call our offices for more information. Applications will be taken starting July 1st and ending August 31st, Monday through Friday.
